Justice In Therapy Report

Black Psychotherapy is a collective of racialised therapists and trainees who offer culturally responsive therapy tailored specifically for racialised communities including those who are LGBTQ+, gender-diverse, neurodivergent, or disabled. Their work is rooted in decolonial, intersectional, and anti-oppressive principles, drawing inspiration from frameworks such as intersectional feminism, Black Liberation, and Black Psychology. They actively challenge and deconstruct the violent legacies within Western psychiatry by integrating African-Centred and Indigenous practices to reduce harm and foster collective liberation

Brief & design process:

Black Psychotherapy approached me with a brief to transform their Justice In Report conference document into a branded asset that truly reflects their values, ethos, and visual identity. The report serves multiple purposes: it introduces who they are as an organisation, outlines the services they provide, and summarises key findings from their conference on justice work. My role was to create a design solution that not only communicates this content clearly, but to produce an asset that looks and feels like Black Psychotherapy.

To fulfil the brief, I began by drawing on the organisation’s existing brand assets, colours, typography, and visual motifs from their website. This provided a strong foundation, ensuring the report design remained consistent with Black Psychotherapy’s established identity. Keeping in mind that the report needed to work seamlessly across both digital and print

platforms, I was intentional about maintaining visual cohesion while also adapting layouts for flexibility and readability. Accessibility was a core consideration throughout the design process: I incorporated inclusive design practices to make the content clear, legible, and engaging for a diverse audience.

Final outcome

The result was a resource that not only communicates the content effectively but also embodies the ethos and aesthetics of Black Psychotherapy’s brand.
